Topic of the thesis

AMF has shown to improve the sensitivity of

molecular MSOT imaging in a number of applications such as cell imaging
However its applications is not robust in cases
where the target occupies a large area in the image
where the spectrum of the target agent is significantly corrupted by light fluence
This thesis will be devoted in studying the performance of AMF under such challenging conditions and developing solutions for mitigating such effects and ensuring global robust performance.

Preliminary Result 1: Study of the effects of target spectrum corruption

Preliminary Result 1: Study of the effects of target spectrum corruption

due to light fluence

The effect of sensitiivty decrease due to the corruption of the target spectrum is studied
While this effect is minimum when agents with sharp spectrum are considered (e.g. ICG), spectral corruption can be important when agents such as ink are utilized.

Preliminary Result 2: Study of the effects of performance contamination due

to targets occupying large areas

The effect of sensitiivty decrease as a function of the area of the molecular target is studied
Targets are implanted in gradually decreasing areas and the sensitivity is calculated
We observe a significant degradation of algorithmic performance as a function of the target area.
