WHAT IS IT FAMOUS FOR?

Kemerovo is a major coal-mining centre, with pits

in and around the city, and it is one of the most important chemical-manufacturing cities in Russia.
In 1926–1927 the Dutch architect Johannes Van Lohem worked in Kemerovo. In a year, he designed houses of a new European type for Siberia, built new brick buildings with communal amenities, which today are called objects of cultural significance.
There is one person in Kemerovo - the urban legend Denis, nicknamed Cola-man - is a young man who walks in sneakers, shorts, a T-shirt and a baseball cap, in winter and summer. Sometimes he can be found walking in the city center in his unchanging "suit", with an invariable attribute - a bottle of Coca-Cola in his hand.

Here, on the steep bank of the Tom River, you can see a unique complex of monuments of mining, historical and cultural heritage. The monuments constitute a single thematic complex associated with the development of the coal industry of Kuzbass. The exposition “Coal Mine” is open in the basement of the museum.

WHAT SHOULD VISITORS BEWARE OF?

The climate is a significant disadvantage of

the city. The temperature in winter can reach -40 degrees, snow falls at the end of October. According to city rumors, the Kirovsky district is an unfavorable place in the city. It is untidy, the houses are old, in my opinion it spoils the appearance of the city. It's better not to go there at night.
