town in Ohio.
They were always curious about science and the possibility of humans flying.
The name of the first airplane they made was: Flyer I.
The first flight was on December 17th 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
The first flight was just 12 seconds long and the distance was 120 feet (35 meters).
The second flight was 59 seconds long and the distance was 859 feet (250 meters)
They were considered the fathers of modern aviation and inspired millions around the world.

She was one of America's first female pilots and the

first female pilot to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
Amelia Earhart was born in 1897 in Kansas, United States.  She was not a child of her times.  At the beginning of the 20th Century most American girls were very feminine and they had to sit quietly , speak softly and play the piano.  They were not permitted to play ball or climb trees.  Those activities were for boys but not for girls.
Amelia and her younger sister Muriel were lucky.  Their parents believed all children needed exercise to grow up healthy and strong.  So Amelia and Muriel were very active girls. 
She loved flying planes but lessons were very expensive so to pay for flying lessons, she was also an english teacher to immigrants.

At the age of 16 years he was already a pilot.
He was in the Korean war as a Navy pilot.
He later joined NASA and was one of the best astronauts.
He was the first man to walk on the moon.
The landing on the moon was a historical event for the world.
