The brick building of the Old Capitol was built in 1712-1713 on the site of the first Boston City Hall, which was erected in 1657-1658, but burned down in a fire in 1711. Beginning in 1713, meetings of the Massachusetts Bay Provincial government were held in this building. In 1747, another fire occurred, as a result of which the interior of the building burned out, and part of the brick walls were destroyed. The exterior of the building after restoration is close to what exists in our time.On March 5, 1770, the Boston Massacre took place near the walls of the building — as a result of a skirmish between British soldiers and Boston citizens dissatisfied with British tax policy, five unarmed citizens were killed. I advise you to visit this old Capitol
