world. The pyramid of Cheops is the only one that survives to our days.
That was the reason for creating a list of new seven wonders of the world. Architectural monuments survived the competition (it was conducted by the independent organization "New Open World Corporation“. Seven wonders of the world were chosen among the dozens of applicants in 2007. The Great Wall, the Taj Mahal and the Colosseum are in this list.

Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is a recognized symbol of eternal love, because

it was created for the sake of the woman Mumtaz Mahal, who conquered the heart of the Emperor of the Great Moguls Shah Jahan.
There is no reliable information about who actually was the architect of the burial vault.
Several styles intertwine in the architecture of the complex, there are traces of notes from Persia, Islam and Central Asia among them. The main advantages of the complex are the chess floor, minarets with a height of 40 meters and an amazing dome. The marble from which it is made is translucent, so it seems white in the daytime, it turns pink at sunset, and gives silver under the moonlight at night. The whole design has axial symmetry from the outside, so some details have been completed only to maintain a general view. The interior is also symmetrical, but already relatively to the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal. The general harmony is broken only by the gravestone of Shah Jahan, which was installed next to Shah’s beloved after his death .

This is the world's longest architectural structure: the total length is 8852 kilometers. The process of construction was going on for millennia, systematically. However, it is not a one-piece structure. There are breaks throughout the Wall.

The Colosseum

The Colosseum is one of the most grandiose buildings of

the times of ancient Rome. The architecture of the Colosseum was developed by an unknown author
The Colosseum was built in the third era of Hadrian.
Like all the buildings of the time, the Colosseum is limited to a combination of different elements, developed during the blooming period of ancient art. The amphitheater was built in 8 years - the construction of the emperor Vespasian began in 72 and was completed in the year 80 by his son Titus. Like other Roman amphitheaters, the Colosseum has the shape of an ellipse, in the center of which is the arena. Around the arena are located in 4 tiers of gradually rising places for spectators. The seats were distributed according to the social status of those present: on the 1st floor there were lodges for the highest nobility, and the second - marble chairs for honorary guests, and persons belonging to the class of horsemen or having the rights of Roman citizenship, on the third - wooden benches for commoners. On the 4th floor with the help of ropes attached a huge linen canvas, creating a shadow over the arena on hot days. The first three floors are formed by arcades of 80 arches, and the latter is built in the form of a high solid wall with small rectangular windows. Arched openings are richly decorated with attached semi-columns with entablature, executed in Tuscan, Ionic and Corinthian artistic processing.
Until now, only the load-carrying structures of the Colosseum have survived, and the statues and stucco that adorned the arches were either destroyed by barbarian tribes or destroyed by time.
