Origins
The European Day of Languages was first celebrated during the

first European Year of Languages, 2001:

45 countries celebrated linguistic diversity and the ablility to speak another language.
At the end of the Year, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe declared a European Day of Languages to be celebrated on the 26th September each year.

EDL 2015 at the Moravská Trebová school, Czech Republic.
Our school

had participated in an eTwinning project 'Postcards for the EDL' with 40 other schools from all over Europe. On September, 25th we had the postcards in different languages on display, we prepared a quiz for the pupils, they wandered through the school looking for the answers and we did some online activities on the EDL website.
